Job Description

Guerra Plastic Surgery Center in North Scottsdale is seeking a Full time Medical Assistant who can work both the front and back office. We are looking for a professional, dependable, motivated, energetic, and friendly person. This team member must be driven, poised, articulate, and possess strong communication skills. Able to multi-task effortlessly, prioritize efficiently, handle patient requests, manage the database, place inbound/outbound calls to patients, handle all administrative tasks, and do so with a smile. This is an extremely fast-paced and professional environment.

Job Duties

Contribute to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.

  • Assess patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
  • Document patient care services by charting patient and department records.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
  • Instruct and counsel patients
  • Provide continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environments by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining medical supplies, garments, implants and any other items necessary for surgery or products for patients.
  • Post-operative care.
  • Pre-operative care.
  • Follow-up post-op phone calls and prescription re-fills.
  • Support daily front desk operations.
  • Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
  • Provide courteous, efficient and effective service to telephone callers; transfer calls or take messages as necessary.
  • Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Perform office opening and/or closing procedures.
  • Handle high-volume phones.
  • Check-In / Check-Out patients.
  • Assist with any other requested administrative duties.

Job Requirements

High School level education; knowledge of medical terminology, medical computer programs; type 40 wpm; Proficiency in Word and Excel are required. The position requires someone who is personable, dependable and responsible, with excellent organizational as well as verbal and written communication skills. Must have positive attitude with impeccable customer service skills. Bilingual is a plus.

  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Certified Medical Assistant required
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug screen
  • Must provide verifiable education and employment history
  • Must have 3+ years of experience working as a medical assistant required
  • Must be dependable, enthusiastic and have multitasking abilities
  • Must be able to work as a leader in the front office
  • Must be able to display exceptional customer service skills
  • Must be a quick learner with a arm positive attitude and open to change
  • Must be detailed oriented
  • Ability to speak, write and read English and Spanish fluently - communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Experience in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to answer and transfer telephone calls efficiently
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to file accurately
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Must be able to work 9 AM to 6 PM
