Different Kinds of Breast Implants
There are many different breast implant vendors and options that Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in the United States can consider. In our evaluation we feel that the best breast implants on the market today are made from Mentor®. They are the only vendor that manufactures the breast implants in the United States. Both silicone and saline implants are FDA approved and are available. In our practice most of our patients choose silicone breast implants partly because they offer a more natural feeling and looking result when compared to saline.

Saline Breast Implant Options by Mentor®

For this two day training preceptorship we focused on the new MemoryGel® Xtra Breast Implants and the teardrop MemoryShape® breast implants. These are the newest and latest breast implant options available from Mentor®. We scheduled two surgical cases for the training. The first case was a one-hour breast augmentation with MemoryGel® Xtra breast implants. The second case was a two-hour breast implant exchange with the teardrop MemoryShape® breast implants. Plastic surgeons are very familiar with the steps for a breast augmentation surgery or breast implant exchange but some of the value for the training comes from observing and learning from Dr. Aldo as he handles the breast implants and performs advanced surgical techniques.
After all the surgery for the day was completed, the surgeons headed back to Guerra Plastic Surgery Center for lunch and on-site training in the clinic environment. The afternoon session featured a presentation "Pearls for Growing a Successful Augmentation Practice" from the business manager Genaro Guerra. The remainder of the afternoon had a few short term and long term postoperative patients that have the MemoryGel® Xtra and MemoryShape® breast implants. The plastic surgeons got to review the cases and shadow Dr. Aldo as he went in to see how each patient was doing.
It was great to meet the other board certified plastic surgeons from across the country and to exchange ideas and techniques to help achieve the best possible results for all patients. We want to thank Mentor® for arranging this professional educational preceptorship and we hope that all the participants enjoyed the course and found a lot of valuable information to take back to their respected practices.
